So, the nights are drawing in and the temperature is dropping and I found myself curiously drawn towards the (very few) yellow items in my wardrobe.
Not a summery, sunshine yellow – the sweater, trousers and dress that I have are more a rich, autumnal yellow.
According to colourtherapyhealing.com, yellow is the colour of self worth and is a reflection of how we see ourselves and how we think others see us. It is associated with personality, the ego and self confidence. Which makes sense to me, as I continue this literal exploration of my wardrobe, and metaphorical exploration of who I am.
In China and other parts of Asia, yellow is the colour of happiness, glory and wisdom. Yellow can be a warm colour – and wearing it definitely made me feel happy!
The trousers I bought on a wonderful trip to Paris several years ago – in the sale at Monoprix. And the cashmere sweater is a favourite from Uniqlo. I also have a yellow cord dress from Toast that I bought when the label first launched. I usually wear it now with skinny jeans or skinny black trousers.
Try wearing yellow and see how it makes you feel. Even a yellow scarf or bag can lift your outfit, and your mood.

Cos has a beautiful yellow dress (above) and a yellow coat this season.

Baum und Pferdgarten has two yellow dresses – (the Allidi and my personal favourite, the Aili silk crepe dress above) and also a beautiful silk Maribel shirt, with sporty knitted cuff sleeves.
And there’s a great mustard, cropped cable jumper in Top Shop that will keep you cosy all winter.
Finally, Toast has a beautiful, printed silk coat created by an Indian cooperative, from recycled saris. Wear it for a glamorous night out, or be completely decadent and pull it on over your pj’s for the perfect night in……
